Best time to study English in Malta
Spring, summer, autumn, or winter: when to go to Malta for your English course depending on budget, weather, and goals.
Best time to study English in Malta
Quick answer: September–October is the sweet spot — warm weather (22–28°C), lower prices, fewer tourists. But every season has its advantages.
By season
| Season | Months | Temp | Price | Social | Study focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spring | Mar–May | 16–25°C | Medium | Good | Good |
| Summer | Jun–Aug | 28–38°C | High | Maximum | Medium |
| Autumn | Sep–Nov | 20–28°C | Medium-low | Good | Good |
| Winter | Dec–Feb | 10–16°C | Low | Quiet | Maximum |
Spring (March–May)
Best balance of weather and price. Beach weather starts in April. Schools fill up from May. Good for students who want sun without extreme heat.
Summer (June–August)
Peak everything: heat (35°C+), prices (+15–25% on accommodation), social life (beach clubs, boat parties, Paceville at maximum capacity), and job availability (tourism season).
Go if: you're 18–25 and want the full experience. Avoid if: you hate heat or have a tight budget.
Book accommodation with air conditioning — it's not optional in July/August.
Autumn (September–November)
The recommendation for most people. September still feels like summer (28°C, beach is perfect). Prices drop. Tourists leave. Schools are less crowded. Seasonal jobs are still available in September.
October is cooler (22°C) but still beach-worthy — the Mediterranean holds heat. November gets fresher and occasional rain starts.
Winter (December–February)
Cheapest time of year. Accommodation drops 10–20%. Flights are cheaper. Schools are quiet — smaller classes, more teacher attention.
Weather: 10–16°C with occasional rain. Nothing compared to a Canadian or Irish winter. You'll need a light jacket, not a parka.
Go if: you want maximum study focus at minimum cost. Skip if: you need beach and nightlife to stay motivated.
